Scott is a Chartered Professional Mechanical Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Auckland.  

His first area of work was in the facilities management department of the Auckland District Health Board where he undertook project work related to engineering and building services. 

Following this Scott joined Nelligan Consulting Engineers as a mechanical design engineer and has been with the company since. 

 

Scott is our Principal Mechanical Engineer, where he leads the firm in mechanical-related projects and investigations.  He has experience in the design of mechanical components such as pressure vessels, lifting beams and a variety of mechanical/structural devices.  Scott also has extensive experience in forensic, accident and failure investigations for a variety of clients including insurance companies, loss adjusters, legal advisors, regulatory bodies, and private companies.  Scott is regularly involved in the certification of height safety systems and fall arrest/abseil anchor points for industry leading installers.  He is a Certified Machinery Safety Expert ® and a recognised surveyor under Maritime Rule 40G (Novel Craft).

Scott is the current chair of the Recreational Safety Engineering Group (RSE), an Engineering NZ Technical Interest Group for Engineers who examine and  certify Amusement Devices such as carnival and theme park rides.
